Whitsunday Regional Council has a tender out for the installation of new CCTV cameras in the Airlie Beach main street and Lagoon areas, partnering with the Australian Government under the Safer Streets Program.
With support from the Airlie Beach Police Station and Safe Night Airlie Beach community group, the project aims to make Airlie Beach a safer precinct for all residents and visitors.
Under the funding partnership agreement, the Australian Government will contribute $725,669 and Council will contribute $54,000 in-kind towards the construction and establishment of the cameras.
The tender for installation of the cameras will close January 6, 2017.
