Early works on Townsville’s recycled water re-use scheme are due to begin next week, with site preparation to be carried out along sections of the corridor in Annandale.
Pipes will be laid in conjunction with the separate Southern Suburbs Rising Main sewer upgrade
The scheme is a key plank in Townsville City Council’s three-point water security solution and includes re-using water for public parklands, sports fields and industrial use.
The first section of work is expected to take about two weeks to complete and will involve the removal of about a dozen trees.
Council has contracted a specialist tree care company to undertake the work and to ensure the minimum number of trees are removed.
