Cloncurry has its sights set sky high with the official opening of the multimillion-dollar upgrade of the town’s airport terminal.

“Investing in critical regional infrastructure projects like the Cloncurry airport demonstrates the Palaszczuk government’s commitment to strengthening regional communities.”

The Queensland Government provided $500,000 from its regional infrastructure funding program for the terminal revamp and $800,000 to support the recently completed upgrade to the taxiway and apron. .

Dr Lynham said the recently completed terminal upgrade allowed for security screening of passengers plus cafes and car hire.

Cloncurry Shire Council has also undertaken works to construct a new carpark and landscaping of the airport grounds.

Dr Lynham was also at Blackall this week to officially open a $1.72 million airport upgrade there.

The terminal upgrade was jointly funded by the Queensland Government and Blackall-Tambo Regional Council, with more than $875,000 from the Queensland Government’s regional infrastructure funding program.
