Sunwater has entered into alliance development agreements with LendLease/McCosker and McConnell Dowell/Obayashi to advance the Rookwood Weir project.
The move followed an intensive evaluation of the Expressions of Interest submissions to build Rookwood Weir, a Sunwater spokesman said.
“Sunwater will work collaboratively with both groups over the next four months to develop a project delivery solution,” he said.
“A contract is due to be awarded to the successful proponent in June 2020.”
The $352 million Rookwood Weir project, 60km south-west of Rockhampton, is expected to create up to 100 jobs during construction.
Civil Mining and Construction was last month named as the contractor selected to deliver a $2.2 million road upgrade for the Capricorn Highway intersection at Gogango in preparation for the project.
Together with Sunwater and GHD, the successful construction consortium is expected to finalise the weir’s design and capacity in about September 2020.
Work is due to commence in November 2020, weather and environmental approvals permitting.
The Sunwater spokesman said about 136 Central Queensland businesses had already registered their interest to supply goods and services for the Rookwood Weir project via its dedicated web registry.
Sunwater is encouraging businesses to register their interest at the project’s ICN supplier portal – http://rookwoodwie.icn.org.au – by Thursday, January 30 to guarantee their capability details are put forward to the two construction proponents for consideration during the bid development process.
