Townsville has bagged itself a Guinness World Record, with a very bright Bunnings carpark effort on World Mental Health Day (October 10)
A crowd of 2499 people came together to break the record for the ‘most people wearing high-visibility vests at a single venue’, smashing the previous record of 2136.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the entire team who made this happen,” Mental Health Australia chief executive officer Frank Quinlan said.
“A huge thank you to our partners Bunnings Warehouse, Townsville City Council, 3M, Triple M, Mentally Healthy City Townsville, the Townsville Bulletin, and the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health. It took an incredible effort to get this record and hold this event.”
The day was about raising awareness, bringing the community together, shedding a positive light on mental health, and getting people talking about how they were going, he said.
