Top rescue teams to face off at Kestrel coal mine

Top rescue teams to face off at Kestrel coal mine QMRS Memorial Competition teams head underground via winder for scenarios covering first aid, ventilation and gas sampling.

Queensland’s top underground coal rescue teams will battle it out at Kestrel mine on July 26, competing for the 2018 EK Healy Cup.

Last year’s four top performers – Grosvenor, Broadmeadow, Moranbah North and Kestrel mine – will take on the five teams who participated in this year’s Queensland Mines Rescue Service Memorial Competition in May.

North Goonyella won the George Carbine Shield for first aid skills and first place overall in that event at Anglo American’s Grasstree mine ahead of Oaky North in second place and Ensham mine in third.

The other teams included Moranbah North and a composite team made up of members from Oaky North, Moranbah North, Grosvenor and a new QMRS staff member.
