Tenders have been invited for the design and construction of a Toowoomba Regional Council Principal Depot and SES headquarters at 24 Nass Rd in Charlton.
Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee chair Geoff McDonald said the project would deliver a modern facility with improved amenities and a safer, more efficient working environment for all council staff.
“It will provide features focused on reducing water usage, power consumption and waste generation to ensure sustainability for the long term,” he said.
“The new depot will also be home to a new regional State Emergency Service (SES) headquarters.
“The Queensland Government has committed $1 million to council to contribute to the construction of a new SES facility which will see SES and Council resources co-located at Charlton.”
Cr McDonald said the new depot was required to replace ageing facilities at Harristown East and West, Oakey and Toowoomba Nursery.
“This is a major project for the Toowoomba Region which will create local jobs during construction and support long-term economic growth,” he said.
“I encourage construction businesses based in the Toowoomba Region to submit a tender application.”
Tenders close at 2pm AEST on Tuesday, November 20.
Tenders can be lodged electronically via the LG Tender Box or in hard copy via the Tender Box, Toowoomba Regional Council, 4 Little St, Toowoomba, QLD, 4350.
