Time to shine for businesses in the North West

Nominations have opened for the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards, run by Mount Isa’s Commerce North West.

The 2019 event will be held on Saturday, November 9, and the organisers say revised award categories are already attracting positive feedback.

The Northern Outback Business Awards previously encompassed close to 30 award categories; but in 2019 this has been revised to 12, bringing the event in line with similar champion awards programs of national significance.

The 2019 event also introduces cash prizes for business-based awards.

Nominations were expected to be significant this year, with many of the region’s businesses reporting and experiencing significant growth in the past 12 months, Commerce North West president Travis Crowther said.

“From downturns in industry from years past; the regions business sector is once again prospering,” he said.

“While aspects such as staffing are still a little tricky, a number of businesses have some really significant growth and innovative products and services to show off.

“The Business Awards are an excellent platform for recognising such success and growth, and we really encourage people to get involved by nominating and then attending the function.”

Business based categories for the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards include Rising Star, Small and Successful, Medium Mover, Social Change Maker, Workplace of Choice, Hall of Fame and Business of the Year.

Categories recognising individual excellence in customer service include Customer Service Hero Community Sector, Customer Service Hero Trades & Skilled Sector and Customer Service Hero Retail & Service Sector.

New to 2019 will also be a People’s Choice category; an award voted on by the public with all nominated businesses eligible for voting once nominations close.
