The Queensland Government has released draft terms of reference for the proposed North Queensland Country Club Resort and Equestrian Centre’s environmental impact statement (EIS).
State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Minister Cameron Dick described it as an important milestone for the $1 billion project, north-west of Townsville.
“The proposed country club will provide luxury accommodation buildings, retailing, conference and function facilities, restaurants and a world-class equestrian centre opening on to Halifax Bay.
“If successful, the project will support 300 full-time jobs during construction, and the proponent, Landmark Projects, has estimated the project could inject more than $360 million of tourism spending each year in the Townsville region when fully operational.”
Mr Dick said the public was invited to have their say on the draft terms of reference until July 12.
Construction of the project is expected to commence in 2022, subject to securing necessary approvals.
