The first tenders for Townsville City Council’s $10 million Water Smart Package have opened.
Council has released two tenders, one looking for suppliers of products and services that will make up the key components of the package and the second to develop a web portal that will allow residents to register for access to the program.
Townsville City Council said the Water Smart Package would start in the first quarter of next year and provide vouchers or rebates for water-efficient irrigation systems, low-flow shower heads, drought-resistant turf and compost bins, water tanks and a range of other water-efficient products and services.
The Water Smart Package is funded by the Queensland Government as part of its $225 million investment to improve water security for Townsville.
The Water Smart Package is open to all homeowners, renters and body corporates – with pensioners and low income families to receive up to $500 in vouchers, remaining households up to $300 and body corporates can access up to $1000 in rebates.
A compulsory tender briefing session for businesses interested in tendering for the Products and Services tender will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2-4pm at Reid Park.
Interested tenderers must first download the documents to register, and then RSVP their attendance to firstname.lastname@example.org
