Isaac Plains mine operator Stanmore Coal will be in the spotlight at the Resource Industry Network’s September briefing in Mackay next week.
RIN general manager Adrienne Rourke said Isaac Plains represented a growth opportunity for Stanmore Coal, with ongoing extensions to the Isaac Plains mine as well as the opening of Isaac Plains East.
“There is the potential for further work at Isaac Plains with an underground component being explored, so this will provide more opportunities for our members not only through mine manager Golding, but also through other sub-contractor arrangements,” Mrs Rourke said.
Managing director Dan Clifford would provide the industry briefing attendees with an overview of the past 12 months for the mine as well as outlining procurement opportunities, she said.
Stanmore Coal commenced production at Isaac Plains last year in an open cut capacity after acquiring the then-mothballed mine for $1 from Vale and Sumitomo in 2015.
Mrs Rourke said Stanmore Coal’s was a success story with the company purchasing Isaac Plains at the bottom of the cycle and introducing a new mine model, which saw the cost of production cut by 35 per cent per tonne of coal.
The industry briefing will take place on Friday, September 1, at Ocean International Hotel from 7am to 9am. Cost is $45 for members and $65 for non-members and includes breakfast. To register go to www.resourceindustrynetwork.org.au
