The Australian and Queensland Governments have unlocked joint funding of $16 million for upgrades to the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd, May Downs Rd and Clermont-Alpha Rd.
Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry said the timing could not be better to see funding flow to deliver vital road safety upgrades in Capricornia.
“Unlocking this funding means we can get these projects underway, providing a much-needed boost to local jobs and the economy at a time when it couldn’t be needed more,” Ms Landry said.
“I am pleased to see Rockhampton Yeppoon Rd, May Downs Rd and Clermont-Alpha Rd in Capricornia will receive $16 million in joint funding to undertake progressive sealing and pavement strengthen and resilience works.
“This will support around 39 jobs over the course of the works.”
The Australian Government is committing $12.81 million and the Queensland Government $3.2 million. All projects are due to commence within six months.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Australian Government had unlocked more than $97 million in federal funding under the Regional Economic Enabling Fund to get 23 critical projects across the state underway as soon as possible.
“These upgrades form part of our joint investment to deliver shovel-ready infrastructure projects and urgent road safety upgrades in Queensland which will create jobs and much-needed economic stimulus in response to COVID-19,” he said.
