Defence projects at Shoalwater Bay, the Carmichael coal development and Lacour Energy’s $800 million-plus Clark Creek wind and solar proposal are among a strong line-up at the Capricorn Enterprise Major Projects Forum on November 8.
“This year’s forum will be bigger and better with information sessions on upcoming infrastructure projects in the region,” Capricorn Enterprise economic development manager Neil Lethlean said.
Proponents, managing contractors and industry sectors will highlight local industry content in upcoming infrastructure projects including roads (with in excess of $250 million local investment), upgrades and new infrastructure within the expanded Shoalwater Bay Training Area, opportunities in the resources sector due to the expansion of central Queensland coal mining activity and renewable energy investment.
Mr Lethlean urges local businesses to attend.
“A recent meeting of the area’s major industry groups stressed the importance of understanding how and when larger infrastructure projects would be delivered, industry involvement in construction or supply chain opportunities and, importantly, scheduling so as to avoid overlapping, in essence all the key components of project delivery,” he said.
This year’s forum is planned as a fully catered all-day event commencing at 8am for registrations at Kortes Resort Conference Centre, Yaamba Rd, Parkhurst (phone 07 4936 3153).
