Day Dawn bright with gold-silver potential

Ballymore Resources says it has identified a significant new gold-silver mineralised system along strike from Mount Wright and Hadleigh Castle mines in North Queensland. Rock chip samples from Day Dawn, within Ballymore's Ravenswood project, returned results up to 127.5 g/t gold, 708 ppm silver and 2.83 per cent lead. The Day Dawn prospect hosts numerous historical pits and shafts and sits within the major east-northeast trendingMount Leyshon Corridor but has never been the subject of systematic modern exploration. Prospecting by Ballymore in 2020 recognised extensive quartz veining and scree in the Day Dawn area with rock chip samples reporting elevated gold, silver and lead. Its follow-up field work and rock chip sampling, completed in November 2021, confirmed the large-scale potential of this newly identified mineralised zone, Ballymore said. Forty-one samples were collected from around the Day Dawn - Old Man mine areas. Out of 41 samples, 33 samples exceeded 1g/t gold and 17 samples exceeded 10 g/t gold. In addition, many samples reported anomalous lead and silver, with eight samples exceeding 1000g/t silver and 23 samples exceeding 1.0 per cent lead. As part of the current field program, a soil sampling program was also completed. In the late 1990’s Rishton Gold (operator of the Rishton and Hadleigh Castle mines) completed an extensive soil sampling program over the mine corridor between Hadleigh Castle and Rishton, as well as covering the Cornishman area west of Day Dawn. However, Ballymore said the the Day Dawn area had remained unsampled as part of this program and had not been sampled before its own field work. Results of this soil survey have highlighted a large 1400m x 300m gold-lead anomaly in the Day Dawn - Old Man area. Ballymore said also that the Day Dawn area had only been tested by four shallow RC holes for 180m by Aurora Gold Limited in 1993, with the best result being 2m at 0.49 g/t gold. "Ballymore has defined a large and robust anomaly hosting veins and stockwork mineralisation over an extensive area and in a highly prospective corridor," the company stated in an announcement to the ASX. "Vein-hosted deposits in this area have the potential to be significant deposits and include Charters Towers (6.6 Moz gold), Ravenswood (4.8 Moz gold) and Hadleigh Castle (0.3 Moz gold). "The grades reported are extremely high grade with rock chip samples reporting up to 127.5 g/t gold and 2770 g/t silver. "Ballymore intends to follow up these encouraging results with a work program including detailed geological mapping as well as an IP survey, prior to drilling to test this significant new target which is hosted in a world-class gold system." .
