The Bowen Basin Mining Club plans an industry roadshow in partnership with Adani Australia to bring information about supply opportunities to regional Queensland centres.
The Adani Supplier Roadshow will visit Rockhampton, Emerald, Clermont, Mackay and Townsville from Monday, January 23 to Wednesday, January 25 outlining subcontracting and supply chain opportunities across the upcoming Carmichael coal mine, rail and port projects.
An Indigenous Supplier Session will also be held prior to each event.
Bowen Basin Mining Club director Jodie Currie said it was important for the roadshow to visit the five centres to maximise the opportunity for regional Queensland businesses to participate in the $21.7 billion project.
“Adani are taking a local-first approach to the supply of this project, and local businesses should take advantage of these openings wherever possible,” Ms Currie said.
Adani Australia chief executive Jeyakumar Janakaraj said that although the company’s Tier 1 partners would remain the main contacts for the majority of the project supply chain, key Adani personnel wouldpresent an overview of the timing of sub-contracting opportunities available at the supplier briefing events.
“By taking information directly to regional centres, we are demonstrating our commitment to local supply for this project, spreading economic benefit throughout Queensland,” Mr Janakaraj said.
Each event will feature presentations from key Adani Australia personnel –
– Ian Sedgman, general manager, mine infrastructure
– Clint Zahmel, head of commercial
– Rupen Shah, project head – rail
Tickets will cost $30 per person, and are available at www.bbminingclub.com/adani
