Pub Walk brings a tipple or two on the mountain trail

Pub Walk brings a tipple or two on the mountain trail

If checking out some classic old pubs is you idea of seeing the sights, a new Far North Queensland walking tour may be just the thing.

Brisbane-owned Back Track Adventures is launching an Atherton Tablelands trek of about 40km in August that takes in the Barron Valley Hotel, Yungaburra (Lake Eacham) Hotel, Peeramon Hotel and Malanda Hotel.

Tours manager Clare Davissen recommends the Pub Walk for lovers of nature, animals, history and the odd tipple.

She said the group had been working hard in the face of the COVID-19 slowdown to come up with new and exciting treks and tours for people looking to escape isolation and check out the amazing experiences on offer ‘in our own backyard’.

“The Pub Walk came about as one of our directors had done this journey before,” she said.

“You walk with a team of donkeys through the Atherton Tablelands and on this particular walk, from pub to pub.  Enjoying the sights, sounds, history of this region and the hospitality of the wonderful communities along the way.

“This is a fairly easy walk but it does have a high level of participation as you help load and unload the donkeys each day for the journey ahead.”

The trip is fully guided with breakfasts, pub dinners and picnic lunches included.

It is a five-day walk and a seven-day package all up, leaving out of Cairns. (Prices from$2990). More details below:
