New figures show an uplift in Australian job advertisements moving into May after a COVID-19 driven plunge last month.
New job ads posted on SEEK during the fortnight ended May 24 were up 39.7 per cent nationwide compared to April 2020.
Tasmania (58.8 per cent), Queensland (55.4 per cent) and South Australia (51.8 per cent) showed the largest job ad growth for that fortnight.
Although it was another week of positive trends, SEEK ANZ managing director Kendra Banks cautioned that it was important to remember that there was a long way to go before the nation returned to pre-COVID levels.
“As social restrictions continue to ease, we expect to see more opportunities open up for jobseekers as businesses and hirers look to get their operations back up and running,” she said.
“Tasmania, Queensland and South Australia are showing the biggest growth in job ad volume in the last two weeks.”
The biggest changes were noted in the sectors of Trades & Services, Hospitality & Tourism, Healthcare & Medical, Administration and Office Support, and Education & Training.
