Western Downs Regional Council is running a Regional Procurement Roadshow next week to give local businesses a hand up ahead of the release of its 2016/17 work packages.
Mayor Paul McVeigh said the council was committed to buying locally and providing local businesses every opportunity to supply goods and services across the Western Downs.
“Buying locally means looking for greater opportunities to engage with local suppliers on everything from professional, plant hire, trade or civil services as well as to the supply of goods from fleet to fuel,” he said.
“We want to work with local businesses and industry to provide them the right information on how to do business with us.
“So, our Regional Procurement Roadshow is aimed at creating more awareness of what procurement options are available to not only deliver value-for-money results for council, but ultimately give local businesses and industries the opportunity to continue to grow and contribute to the long-term economic sustainability of our region.”
