The Federal Government is expected to call for tenders next week for the business case for Stage 2 of the Haughton Pipeline Duplication Project and to award the contract early in the new year.
The information came from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack and Dawson MP George Christensen.
The Federal Government has committed up to $200 million for Stage 2 of the Haughton Pipeline Project including $5 million to conduct a detailed business case.
Mr Christensen said the business case was an important process to determine value for money and test assumptions through a rigorous technical and economic analysis framework.
“The Australian Government is committed to ensuring all projects attracting $100 million or more of Commonwealth funding are assessed in accordance with the Infrastructure Australia assessment framework,” he said.
“We are getting on with the job of delivering critical water infrastructure projects to secure the future of communities such as Townsville while improving the standard of living.”
