Channel dredging under way

Dredging of Victoria Creek Channel, Taylors Beach (main picture) starts this week, with Timrith Transport as contractor.

Hinchinbrook Mayor Ramon Jayo said works to dredge the channel would involve excavating an area about 30m wide, with the excavated sand used to replenish erosion-prone areas on the beach front near the stinger net.

“Taylors Beach plays a significant recreation role for our local community and visitors to the district, and maintaining safe access to the local water ways is important’,” he said.

The work will take place at low tide August 8-13. The budgeted amount for the work was $100,000.
