Cairns Chamber of Commerce has appointed Patricia O’Neill as chief executive officer following Debbie-Anne Bender’s shift to the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce.
“We are delighted to appoint Patricia O’Neill as our new CEO,” Cairns Chamber of Commerce president Nick Loukas said.
“Patricia is well known to many in the Cairns business community and I am sure her appointment will be welcomed.”
Ms O’Neill has worked in the media industry in Cairns for the last 13 years.
In 2014, she was part of the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) working committee alongside other stakeholders including Cairns Regional Council and Tourism Tropical North Queensland.
“I am a passionate advocate for small business and it is a privilege to be given the opportunity to work with the management committee of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce in supporting the growth and prosperity of the Cairns business community,” Ms O’Neill said.
“I feel honoured to be offered the position as CEO and excited to meet with and build on the strong foundation currently in place with our existing members and key stakeholders.
“I am a passionate Scot by birth, however Cairns is my home and upon recently returning from a short trip to ‘the motherland’ I can confidently say there is no place quite like Cairns.”
Ms O’Neill commences her new role on September 23.
