New copper-gold systems found at Roseby South

Altona Mining has announced results from a reconnaissance Reverse Circulation (“RC”) drilling program at its Roseby South project confirming three new copper-gold systems.

Roseby South adjoins MMG’s Dugald River underground zinc mine development and the southern boundary of Altona’s Cloncurry project, the subject of a $235.5 million proposed joint venture with Sichuan Railway Investment Group.

Three prospects at Roseby South were tested; Harvest, Reaper and Hobby – with large copper-in-soil anomalies greater than 1,000ppm (0.1 per cent copper) defined in each.

The company said the anomalism was of similar size and tenor to the Cloncurry project’s Little Eva and Turkey Creek deposits.

Outcrop and float rock samples returned up to 14.4 per cent copper and 0.74g/t gold at Harvest; 23.3 per cent copper and 2.9g/t gold at Hobby; and 0.8 per cent copper and 1.54g/t gold at Reaper.

The targets were identified this year and were reported in ASX releases dated August 1 (Harvest and Hobby) and September 5 (Reaper).

Initial drilling is now complete with the wet season imminent and Altona said it was determining the best commercial and technical strategy for testing the major copper targets.
