A new leader takes his place at the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (the AusIMM) from today.
Stephen Durkin has been appointed as chief executive officer for the peak industry group, which represents 13,000 professionals working in the
Mr Durkin was most recently chief executive of Engineers Australia. He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).
AusIMM president Colin Moorhead said Mr Durkin’s high-profile record of organisational transformation would position the Institute for further growth.
“The Institute represents professionals working in one of the few sectors in Australasia that is truly world class”, Mr Moorhead said.
“As leaders in a global industry, professionals working in the minerals industry are supported by the AusIMM’s network of development opportunities and professional standards. I look forward to working with Stephen to take the AusIMM to the next level of growth.”
Mr Durkin said he was excited by the opportunities presented by his appointment as AusIMM CEO.
