New Century Resources is continuing to ramp up zinc operations at the Century mine in North-West Queensland, reporting an average zinc recovery rate of 50 per cent in the plant for March 2019.
Recovery rates peaked at 54 per cent – which is 86 per cent of the design target.
The site produced 18,170 tonnes of zinc metal in 37,500 tonnes of concentrate in the first quarter of 2019, grading at 48.3 per cent zinc.
This compared to 25,500 tonnes at 47 per cent zinc in the final quarter of 2018.
Silver content of 152g/t within the concentrate remained in line with previous quarter operations.
New Century Resources’ Lawn Hill operation officially opened late last year after a $50 million investment to breathe new life into the former Century mine site.
It is a tailings reprocessing operation based on hydraulic mining.
New Century Resources has introduced a third mining cannon since the end of the quarter and has completed its pumping system, paving the way for the operations to target ramp up to a mining rate consistently above 8Mtpa and up to 10Mtpa during this quarter.
