Longwall tech innovation from Mackay business

Mackay-based company Vayeron has launched an innovative industrial IoT sensor product for underground longwall mines.

The next generation wireless inclinometer delivers safety and productivity improvements by providing automation control data.

Vayeron says its new product represents a low CAPEX alternative to conventional inclinometers that are necessary for capturing guidance and control information used by longwall control systems.

Vayeron manufactures the new inclinometer product in-house in Mackay and is planning to expand its manufacturing capacity with new equipment and machinery investments.

“The development of this product was driven by our customers’ desire to improve upon conventional systems and address an industry requirement to lower costs,” Vayeron chief executive officer Ryan Norris said.

“At Vayeron, we take pride in our willingness to listen to clients and work with them to find high value solutions to their problems.

“Our new wireless longwall inclinometer took 14 months to develop from scratch and bring it to market.

“The product development was done in collaboration with mining companies and was immediately adopted the moment it was available for purchase.

“This is not surprising as the sensors represent a 75 per cent cost reduction on old technologies. We make these devices right here in Mackay and are proud to add to Mackay’s mining capability and status on the global stage.”

Vayeron says it is experiencing strong demand for the devices, having already supplied the new inclinometers to mining companies in Queensland and New South Wales.
