Kenfrost Homes is poised to begin building houses on a 105-lot estate hailed as Cairns’ biggest residential development in decades.
Endeavour Estate, off Reid Rd at Trinity Park, will be developed as one stage rather than being rolled out gradually, says Kenfrost spokesman Adam Gowlett.
Mr Gowlett said the site had been cleared and roads, curbs and drainage work had been completed.
“We are finishing the electrical works, then there is some landscaping to be done and a 2000sq m park to build,” he said.
Depending on the wet season, construction of the first homes is likely to begin in late January/early February.
Mr Gowlett estimate that more than 200 local jobs would be sustained by the $40 million development over the project’s life
He said the company was completing design work for the first 10 houses now, with the construction of all the Endeavour Estate homes expected to run over about two years .
“It is the biggest development of this kind since Forest Gardens was built by Delfin in the late 1990s,” he said. “(The fact that) we are doing the 105 lots as a single stage.”
