Hutchinson Builders has been named as principal contractor to deliver the next stage of Gladstone’s East Shores precinct, with 28 local businesses engaged as subcontractors.
The State-funded $25.9 million Stage 1B development will include the construction of a cruise passenger interface, waterfront café and amphitheatre – generating more than 300 jobs.
Site preparation started on Monday, ahead of construction later in the month.
Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) acting chief executive officer Craig Walker said Hutchinson Builders helped deliver the multi-award winning East Shores 1A precinct to the community in 2014.
“We are excited to announce Hutchinson Builders as the principal contractor for East Shores Stage 1B, supported by 28 local subcontractors” Mr Walker said.
Gladstone Flooring Xtra is among those involved in the project.
“East Shores really is a beautiful part of Gladstone and the community love spending time here so we’re really proud and excited to be part of the extension,” operations supervisor Trevor Hall said.
Other local subcontractors include Craig Friend Contracting, Sparkman’s Joinery, ProPest, Calibre Civil, Port City Mechanical, Bradman’s Windows and Doors, McAlister and Burford Painting, Construction Science, Cat Rentals, Butler Quarries, Fulton Hogan, Rilec Electrical, Multitrade, Linxcom, Securcom, Haymans, Gladstone Drafting, MPV, Mathersons Crane, A&A Complete Concrete Solutions, Bunnings, Hanson, FormDirect, CQ Brick and Block, Butler Fabrications, Oakwood Metalwork and CQ Commercial Catering.
