Today is Global Day of the Engineer and peak body Engineers Australia is asking the wider community to join the celebration.
Global Day of the Engineer centres on recognising the accomplishments of engineers, giving students around the world a chance to experience engineering and sharing the innovations engineers create.
“Engineers Australia is supporting this worldwide initiative by thanking engineers for their work across the community,” Engineers Australia chief executive officer Stephen Durkin said.
Mr Durkin said engineers played a core role in the advancement of society and economic development.
“From clean drinking water, renewable energy and free WiFi to 21st century transport, robotics, biomedical advances – engineers make a world of difference in all our lives,” he said.
Engineers Australia is inviting the community to join the celebration by sharing a photo or video in response to the question: “What would you thank an engineer for?”
