Golding wins $25m contract at Broadlea

Golding wins $25m contract at Broadlea

Golding Contractors has won a mining service contract for the Broadlea open-cut coal mine, 150km south-west of Mackay, as new owners prepare to recommence operations.

The contract will see Golding act as coal mine operator, with responsibilities for drill and blast, overburden removal and coal mining activities.

The 12-month contract is worth about $25 million.

Broadlea and the nearby Carborough Downs mine are owned by Fitzroy Australia Resources – which purchased the assets from Vale.

Golding chief executive officer Geoff Caton said the company looked forward to working with Fitzroy Australia Resources to recommence open-cut operations at Broadlea.

NRW acquired Queensland’s Golding Group contractors last month for $85 million.
