Gladstone Regional Council has appointed acting chief executive officer Leisa Dowling to the role on a permanent basis.
Ms Dowling was yesterday revealed as the new CEO by mayor Matt Burnett, who praised her extensive qualifications for the role.
Cr Burnett said the decision followed a comprehensive internal recruitment process.
He said significant importance was placed on internal recruitment for the position to ensure the successful candidate had a thorough knowledge of how the council worked.
“Leisa has significant local and state government experience,” Cr Burnett said.
“This includes eight years at the council in director and general management roles, and most recently as acting CEO.
“Leisa is highly regarded across the organisation and has a genuine passion to achieve positive outcomes for the council, its employees and the community.”
Cr Burnett said the decision to appointment Leisa was unanimous.
Ms Dowling said she was honoured to have the opportunity to take on the role and was excited about the journey ahead.
“We have all the foundations in place to succeed as a region, and I am delighted to be leading the team as we implement those plans to achieve all the great outcomes,” she said.
“I am supported by a strong and diverse executive leadership team and I am confident that we will move forward together for a positive future aligned with our vision of ‘connect, innovate and diversify’.”
