Gladstone Regional Council will roll out more than $100 million worth of capital works projects this financial year and is looking to give local businesses a leg-up in securing that work via a briefing next week.
Aimed at designers, contractors and suppliers, the Capital Works 2017-18 Information Session will be held at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre on July 27 from 10am until noon.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the information session would provide valuable insight into the water, sewerage, roads, waste and parks capital projects that council would be seeking contractors for this financial year.
Cr Burnett said the session would also cover how to apply for council tenders, how tenders were evaluated and information about the council’s local procurement plan.
About 200 businesses attended a similar event last year.
“We’ve budgeted $101 million for important capital works this financial year, estimated to support 425 jobs,” Cr Burnett said.
“We’re hosting the Capital Works Information Session to give local suppliers as much opportunity as possible to compete for these contracts.”
