Surface operations at Mount Isa Mines suffered a partial power outage yesterday when an electrical transformer caught fire around 3pm.
The Queensland Police Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service responded and the fire was extinguished about 6.30pm.
A Glencore spokeswoman said this morning the operation was in the process of restoring power to surface operations.
“Our underground mines are operating as normal,” she said. “As always, the safety and health of our employees is our highest priority.”
