Lendlease has named Hansen Constructions NQ as the contractor for the first subdivision of the $4.7 billion Elliot Springs development outside Townsville, with works to commence on-site this week.
Joint managing directors Dave and Jacqui Murr have owned the business since 2004, and are excited to have been awarded the contract for the first subdivision, which will include 82 residential lots.
“We are locals who have extensive industry experience, take great pride in the work we do and are committed to ensuring we are on time and on budget,” Ms Murr said.
“One of the key components of our business is the commitment to equal employment opportunities, employing a diverse workforce and investing in upskilling.
“With our previous projects, we have been able to ensure that over 20 per cent of labour hours are performed by Indigenous workers.”
Lendlease regional development manager for Elliot Springs Simon Walker said it gave Lendlease great satisfaction to award this contract to a business that contributed to the local economy and completed projects of high importance on time and with the resources, equipment and skill required.
“We are also currently finalising the contract for the Bruce Highway works and anticipate this to commence in late June with a four-way intersection,” he said.
The 1609ha Elliot Springs development – formerly known as Rocky Springs – will be rolled out over 40 years and is expected to become home to more than 26,000 people.
Located on the Bruce Highway, 15 minutes south-east of Townsville’s CBD, the community is set to include schools and retail hubs.
