Easternwell has mobilised a new ALRx workover rig as part of a 12-month contract for for Santos coal seam gas developments in eastern Queensland.
The new rig is one of three recently designed and built by Easternwell at its updated facility in Withcott, outside Toowoomba.
Easternwell general manager energy Kyle Koziol said the Advantage Light Rig Extra or ALRx was the latest in well servicing technology.
The ALRx integrates push-pull capability and a 50-tonne top-drive for increased rotary torque.
It is described as a new and improved version of the Easternwell-designed ALR rig.
“The rig has enhanced hands-free operations and a simplified rig up and rig down process making it safer for our rig crews in the field,” Mr Koziol said.
“The rig’s versatile set-up allows for rig moves 365 days a year with no transport permits required and a 30 per cent reduction in rig move times, reducing the time it takes to move between wells.
“We look forward to demonstrating the technology and performance efficiencies of the new rig to Santos.”
