Dysart substation set for $31m overhaul

A $31 million upgrade is planned for the Dysart substation in central Queensland.

Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said work at the joint Powerlink Queensland/ Ergon Energy substation would support up to 48 jobs and was expected to be completed in mid-2020.

Powerlink plans an extensive asset overhaul including the installation of two new 132/66kv transformers, substantial switchgear replacement, and upgrading of substation internal roads and the emergency response helipad.

Following on from Powerlink’s works, Ergon Energy equipment in the joint substation will be upgraded as well, with plans to replace old regulators with new 66/22kV 20 MVA transformers.
