Townsville City Council is investing more than $3 million into Magnetic Island infrastructure projects.
Infrastructure Committee Chair Cr Mark Molachino said the work included almost $1 million for the Horseshoe Bay Water Recycling Facility.
“The plant has been in use since 2006 so we will be replacing or upgrading equipment,” he said.
“We are also renewing the Nelly Bay Reservoir to improve the water supply on the Island.
“Council workers have replaced the inlet and outlet pipes and the roof in the project which has cost more than $750,000.
“We’ll spend almost $200,000 improving the Magnetic Island Water Recycling Facility.
“Water related works are a key focus for council and these projects will improve our infrastructure on Magnetic Island.”
The council is also renovating the X Base Walkway and drawing up designs for a new guardrail and warning signs at Horseshoe Bay.
