Gladstone Regional Council has awarded a $3 million contract to Miriam Vale Plant Hire to repair and construct floodways on roads damaged by ex-Tropical Cyclone Marcia.
The repair program is to be conducted with funds provided by the Commonwealth and State governments’ Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) initiative.
The council’s Works and Traffic Committee Chair Cr Peter Masters said the betterment program would start this month and continue through to an expected finish in December.
“The works will be conducted at 18 sites located on eight roads,” Cr Masters said.
“Miriam Vale Plant Hire was successful in tendering for the contract and it’s great to be able to provide the opportunity to a local company.”
The works will include six sites on Tableland Rd in Wooderson and Diglum, five sites on Norton Rd in the Boyne Valley and three on Bindawalla Rd in Diglum.
Other roads to undergo floodway betterment works are Mt Larcom Bracewell Rd (two sites at Ambrose and Bracewell), Davis Rd (East End), Gentle Annie Rd (Ambrose) and Cattle Creek Rd (Raglan).
