Coal operation remains on hold after recent death

Mining operations remain suspended at Carborough Downs, about 20km east of Moranbah, where an employee was killed on November 25.

Ipswich man Brad Duxbury, 57, was killed underground at the coal mine – becoming the seventh person to die within 18 months in a workplace incident in Queensland’s mines and quarries.

A spokesman for mine owner Fitzroy Australia Resources said investigations into the incident were ongoing and the company was continuing to support the family of Mr Duxbury and his workmates.

“All Fitzroy workers, including contractors, continue to be paid as normal while mining operations are suspended,” he said
