The Civil Contractors Federation Queensland is offering a new round of its Trade Ready training program next month.
The Trade Ready program combines a Certificate II in Resource and Infrastructure Work Preparation along with other competencies such as Working in Confined Spaces.
The program, including work placement, is held over a seven-week period.
“The civil construction industry is ready to welcome new entrants,” Civil Contractors Federation Queensland chief executive Damian Long said.
“We are one of the fortunate industries that have been able to keep operating during the COVID-19 crisis and now is a perfect time for new entrants to get trained.”
CCF Queensland is currently running the program in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns. It will add Mackay to the next round if there is enough demand.
Mr Long said the response to date showed that demand for programs like this and for industries like civil construction to lead the way in assisting to get people back into the workforce.
Funding has been accessed from Construction Skills Queensland and the State Government for this program.
