CIMIC’s Sedgman wins $100m in coal contracts in Queensland

CIMIC’s Sedgman wins $100m in coal contracts in Queensland Rail civil works at Byerwen

The CIMIC Group mineral processing company, Sedgman is scheduled to begin two infrastructure projects as QCoal prepares to bring on production at its Byerwen Mine in the northern Bowen Basin.

Work is scheduled to start on the coal handling and processing plant and the initial crushing and stockpiling operation.

Work has commenced recently on a third project, a stockpiling and train load out facility.

The two contracts are worth around $100 million.

By using an innovative modular processing plant design, they had been able to significantly reduce the site construction time and cost for the project, Sedgman Managing Director Grant Fraser said.

“We are pleased to continue our strong, long term relationship with the QCoal Group and look forward to contributing our core skills in technical delivery and commercial innovation at this project,” Mr Fraser said.

Sedgman has been working with QCoal Group since 2007.

The greenfield Byerwen mine site is located 20 kilometres west of Glenden.
