The RG Tanna Coal Terminal in Gladstone has notched up its biggest December since 2014 for coal exports.
Acting chief executive officer Craig Walker said a total of 5,684,688 tonnes was exported from the terminal last month – the highest export total for December in five years.
It followed a record throughput in the last financial year, he said.
“We are continuously working to improve our services in the safest and most effective manner possible,” Mr Walker said.
“RGTCT can handle up to 42 coal types across 85 stockpile zones.
“The majority of coal handled at RGTCT is metallurgical coal, with its major destinations including Japan, India, South Korea and China, for production of high quality steel manufacturing.
“A big thanks and congratulations goes out to our staff – they are the backbone of our business and the credit goes to them for the exceptional December result.”
