Rockhampton Regional Council is helping businesses get ready for Adani’s Carmichael coal development with two information seminars set to be held in Rockhampton.
Mayor Margaret Strelow said it was absolutely critical local businesses signed up to the upcoming information sessions as construction on Adani’s Carmichael project could begin as soon as September.
“I cannot overemphasise how important it is for local businesses, big or small, to immediately begin looking at what they can provide for Adani and to make sure their business is at the forefront of Adani’s mind during this critical time when they are looking to Regional Queensland to provide those jobs and services,” Mayor Strelow said.
“While we are waiting for the FIFO decision, it is important that we remember that FIFO is only half of the equation as there are opportunities for suppliers.”
Council has teamed up with Bowen Basin Mining Club to deliver one of two upcoming seminars.
“The upcoming Adani Regional Content Briefing will be Rockhampton’s opportunity to hear about Adani’s Regional Content Strategy and to find out how businesses can become involved in Adani’s mine, rail, solar and port projects.”
“We also encourage local businesses to complete Council’s online Business Readiness survey that was launched last week. It will help us understand where businesses are at now and what further support they need sell themselves to Adani,” Mayor Strelow said.
The council will use feedback from the survey – closing July 7 – to plan a series of forums tailored to address the areas where businesses most need help when bidding for project work.
